- Were suppressors and SBRs removed from the NFA? No. While at the senate, it remained as an NFA item due to the Byrd Rule.
- Do I still need to get approval to purchase a suppressor, SBR or SBS? Yes. Forms and fingerprints still need to be submitted, prior to getting the approval and taking ownership of the item. Though the cost is $0 for the tax stamp; Nothing else has changed with the approval process.
- When does the change take effect? – January 1, 2026. This is the next calendar quarter beginning after 90 days from the date of the enactment of the Act (July 4, 2025).
